Okay. My Fiance and I are having a debate about smoking pot. She used to do it, but I never have, and I never will.
We are both Christians.
She believes that marijuana should be legalized or at least decriminalized. She believes that smoking cannabis does not kill brain cells.
I believe it should be illegal. I think it is sinful to smoke it, because it pollutes the body. It also interferes with short term memory, response time, and so forth.
Does smoking pot kill brain cells? Is there any evidence or research that supports this commonly held belief?
For what reasons should pot be legalized?
For what reasons should it remain illicit?
As a Christian, is it Biblical to have the opinion that God created all the green vegetation for us to use or consume, including pot?
Or, is it against Biblical teachings to smoke pot?
Please explain your own point of view.

Yep bad stuff. figure it out
It is not good for you. I have heard that each marijuana joint contains the tar of an entire pack of cigarettes. This is according to a group of scientists in New Zealand.
Its about as bad as walking in front of a speeding semi truck.
No it does not kill brain cells. There is no legit study that shows it does. You cannot OD on it. It does not cause cancer. It is non-addictive for 95% of its users. The other 5% might develop a psychological addiction.
It should at the very least be decriminalized for medicinal use. It is used to control pain, relieve nausea, etc.
It should not remain illicit.
The decision to smoke or not is yours and yours alone. Try it. You might find you enjoy it.
One joint equals five cigarettes,I have lung cancer and had to have a chest tube inserted twice and it also required 30 day’s in the hospital after lung surgery and it is not good for you in anyway shape or form.
it is bad for your health cause it will make you disoriented
I have a friend that says it doesn’t kill brains cells and all of that stuff too. However, think about it you are inhale a type of smoke doesn’t sound good to me. If something alters you capacity to do something it is not good. It is not biblical to use natural drugs. cocaine is natural and so is heron. Don’t let people distort you opinion. If you have the feeling something is wrong go with you feelings. Especially you thing God would be upset at you. If you have that sin instinct then its a sin. Likewise the bible says not to get drunk but includes drinking in many occasions. If you feel you shouldn’t drink as socializing or what ever(Not to get drunk) then you better not do that. Like my boyfriend doesn’t drink he has a problem when he does. I don’t but if I drank I know that I would be sinning cause I just feel it is wrong to do that when he doesn’t. God would be upset. Remember he is a forgiving God. God Bless.
It’s very bad, and addicting, as your wife must know. The reason it is used for Chemo is because it is basically posion pumped into your body that kills all of the bad, and good cells.
sad to say that what one believes is not always true of facts… it is a fact that smoking this kills brains cells, and ambition, motivation ect… one report also suggest that ones race’ may well be another factor in the increase dependancy of this drug as well as cocaine, and alcohol.
The bible says, reap upon the herbs of the earth, yet it also says do not harm thy temple=Body and or brain. The bible was also not written by god but mere mortal men that were his Deciples, Trusting in every word they say is your own decision. Iv’e heard in recent studies that pot does not kill brain cells but rather, alters them. Better ? worse? You decide. I have recently quit smoking pot because i was tired of it and it made me very reclusive, even around my own family. I’m better off not smoking pot but I still like to drink beer. If beer is legal I don’t see why pot shouldn’t be. I just don’t think it should be a double standard. Don’t see a diffrence. Decide for yourself-everyone.
Let’s face it, I think any person with half a brain can tell you it’s not good for the body. I don’t think you need a bunch of strangers to tell you this. The real question is should it be legalized or decriminalized. Alcohol, in my opinion, is far more dangerous and kills far more people. However, I probably find myself leaning toward not legalizing it simply because for many kids and adults the fact that it’s illegal is just enough of a deterrent to keep them from trying it and therefore going down a path that might end up harming them in some way. I hope they never lower the legal drinking age for that same reason.
As for the religious reasons, well that’s all a personal thing and being that I’m not religious that doesn’t affect my decision making in the least bit.
do you know how many who smoke pot gradually go to something stronger? ask anyone in law enforcement.
i’ll just start small, it won’t hurt me. wanna bet? too many people in their 20s looking like they’re 60. they don’t realize how many other lives they ***** up as well. (family)
Yes. First of all, it is often mixed with tobacco. And that is bad in itself.
Second, the rates of mental illness are higher in those who use it, compared to those who do not.
there have been studies showing that marijuana kills brain cells and triggers the onset of schizophrenia but there have also been studies showing marijuana to be harmless. i believe God put everything on earth for a reason and marijuana is intended to be a painkiller which is its medical use but you could argue that recreational users smoke it for this effect. I no longer smoke it as from my expieriance it leads to harder more dangerous drugs and within weeks of startin smoking cannabis at age 14 i had already taken valium, extacy and cocaine i think this rather than marijuana might killi brain cells is why its shouldnt be leglised. but then again if marijuana was legalised maybe i wouldnt have been in contact with harder drugs……its a very good question you’ve got me thinking.
